If an internal job vacancy is offered and you wish to go for it then you need to ensure that you are fully prepared for an interview and to prove why you would be suitable for the position.  Many companies advertise jobs internal prior to advertising to the public so if you are looking to move up the ladder within the business, then this could be a great opportunity.

It may be that your current boss doesn’t want you to move departments and so they may even offer you additional money or additional responsibility to stay put.

Firstly you need to consider if you have all the qualifications and experience that they require. If not, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t apply but you may need to prove that you are capable of doing the job to a high standard and possibly even take a small pay drop whilst you are in the training phase. Making sure you are on time, complete work to a high standard and offer to go the extra mile will impress any employer.
